Morocco Trekking Ait Bougmaz Valley : The Central Atlas is an area with beautifully cultivated valleys and hills and wooded with junipers and Mediterranean oaks. Due to its remote location, its inhabitants have maintained a traditional rural way of life.
The ascent of Jebel Mgoun at 4068m is the highlight of this trek. Our trip finishes in Marrakech with time to visit its monumental sites and to experience its vibrant night life.
DAY 1: MARRAKECH
Pick up at Marrakech airport by our staff and transfer to the hotel. Dinner and lodging at the hotel. Located at the base of the Atlas Mountains, the red-colored imperial city of Marrakech is the most reputed of all Moroccan cities due to its history, exotic charm and excellent services.
DAY 2: MARRAKECH – AGOUTI (160 km)
The entire day is dedicated to the visit of Marrakech to discover its treasures and to get to know its culture and history. You will have the chance to sight see many places of interest such as the Menara Basin, the Saadian Tombs, the Bahia Palace, the splendid Minaret of the Koutobia, the grand Souk of Semmarin and the magical Jamaa Elfnaa square. In this charming square you will find snake charmers, story tellers, salesmen, dancers, acrobats, and musicians. Lunch will be served in a nice Moroccan Restaurant and, in late afternoon, we will head towards the small Berber village of Agouti, where you’ll enjoy dinner and spend the night in a small inn.
DAY 3: AGOUTI (1780 m) – TARKEDDIT REFUGE (2900 m)
After breakfast, meet your mountain guide and muleteers before we start our trekking. Along the way we will have a packed lunch. Dinner and lodging in the refuge of Tarkeddit.
DAY 4: TARKEDDIT (2900 m) – SUMMIT OF M’GOUN (4068m) – TARKEDDIT
Re-charge your energy with breakfast before we begin the ascension to the pick of Mountain M’Goun. Picnic lunch on the way. Dinner and accommodation in the refuge.
DAY 5: TARKEDDIT REFUGE (2900 m) – AGOUTI (1780m)
After breakfast, we return to Agouti. Picnic meal along the trek. Dinner and night in a rural inn.
DAY 6: AGOUTI (1780m) – IMI N’IFRI – MARRAKECH (160 km)
After enjoying breakfast, we make our way back to Marrakech crossing the secondary route R.302 that borders the village of Achaouikhde, the Coll of Aguerdou Nouzemou and the fantastic natural bridge of Imi N’Ifri. Arrival in Marrakech is expected in late afternoon with transfer to your hotel.
DAY 7: MARRAKECH EXPLORE
After breakfast, we drive over TiziN’test pass in the High Atlas and visit the mosque of Tinml, a small and typical village of this area, before we enter Marrakesh. Here you will have a chance to explore its most well-known historical monuments and sites, including Menara Gardens, Koutoubia Minaret, Saadian Tombs and Bahia Palace. After lunch in hotel, we will take a tour around Marrakesh’s walls surrounding the old city, visit Agdal Gardens, the new Gueliz district, the ancient medina and its markets and finally the famous Djemaa El Fnaa square. Dinner and night in hotel.
