ABDELKHALEK BENALILA

When he walked the streets of his native village M’Hamid to go to primary school and then to high school, Abdel Benalila never imagined that this small village in the depths of the desert would be the starting point of his gigantic project. Yet he dreamed of seeing his village grow and be equipped with roads, entertainment facilities and, above all, tourist infrastructure, of which he is one of the pioneers in the region today.

During his school holidays, he went off to discover the region off the beaten track. His favourite places were the dunes of Erg Lihoudi and Chegaga, which he explored by camel and on foot with his friends.

Thus, at the end of his studies, he returned to M’Hamid to organize camel treks, and immersion in the life of the nomads living in the region, before setting up his first standard camp. Later, in order to meet both the local need for employment and the needs of his guests, he created luxury camps, a kasbah, and then the incoming travel agency “Sahara Experience”.

Always listening to its customers, and in order to better serve them, the Sahara Experience Group set up a car rental agency, then a tourist transport agency (4×4 and minibus) with expert Moroccan drivers, selected among the best professionals in tourism industry.

Its ambitions have led to the creation of more than 100 permanent jobs and 200 seasonal jobs. The objective of this idol is to promote Morocco as a travel destination and to develop an Eco Tourism platform that respects the natural environment and the local population. Indeed, “Abdel” is an ardent believer of Responsible Tourism.
